Sioux Falls, South Dakota: The City of Sioux Falls is hosting an Electric Vehicle (EV) Readiness Open House to provide the public with an opportunity to learn about, ask questions, and provide input on electric vehicle usage on Wednesday, July 12, 2023, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Downtown Library, 200 North Dakota Avenue.

The open house is part of the City of Sioux Falls’ EV Readiness Study that will help better understand projected growth for electric vehicles in Sioux Falls in coming years and identify ways to help the community prepare. The study will research projected EV demand, infrastructure needs, and other key data points while also serving as an opportunity to educate the community on electric vehicles.

The open house will feature a variety of self-guided activities and question-and-answer opportunities with EV experts and City leaders on the EV market, EV technology and charging infrastructure, and the landscape of EV use and charging stations in Sioux Falls.

“With an anticipated market increase in the use of electric vehicles nationwide, the City is performing this study to better understand implications for our local community and the steps we should consider taking to prepare for this newer technology. We invite the public to attend this open house to learn more and gather educational materials about electric vehicles,” said Holly Meier, Sustainability Coordinator.

Preliminary study results will be shared with the public on the City’s website in winter 2023/2024, and a final version will be prepared and presented to the Sioux Falls City Council. Any changes by the City Council will be incorporated into the final study document.

For those unable to attend the open house, an online survey will be available for public input at www.siouxfalls.org/sustainability.

If an ADA accommodation is needed for the open house, please contact the Human Relations Office at 605-367-8745 or humanrelations@siouxfalls.org.
