About 29.5 percent of the 509 degrees and certificates handed out by Augustana University in 2017-18 were to students in education programs, making them the most popular programs that year, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.

The agency's National Center for Education Statistics shows the private not-for-profit institution in Falls conferred 124 master's degrees and 26 bachelor's degrees in education programs.

But the single most popular program was for a master's degree in general education. Data shows the school gave out 124 master's degrees in general education, followed by 66 bachelor's degrees in registered nursing/registered nurse and 45 bachelor's degrees in general biology/biological sciences.

The university enrolled 2,133 students for 2017-18, including 1,807 in undergraduate programs and 326 in graduate programs.
