United States Attorney Alison J. Ramsdell announced that a Sioux Falls man has been sentenced for conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine. U.S. District Judge Karen E. Schreier sentenced Jaden Rae Lalley-Mestas, 24, to ten years in federal prison on November 4, 2024. The sentence also includes five years of supervised release and a $100 special assessment to the Federal Crime Victims Fund.
Lalley-Mestas was indicted by a federal grand jury in September 2023 and pleaded guilty on August 16, 2024. His conviction is linked to an incident in April 2023 when law enforcement intercepted a package containing approximately six pounds of methamphetamine intended for his home. A search of Lalley-Mestas' phone revealed he was collaborating with others to receive the package and deliver it to another co-conspirator.
The investigation involved multiple agencies including Homeland Security Investigations, Drug Enforcement Administration, South Dakota Division of Criminal Investigation, and the Sioux Falls Area Drug Task Force. Assistant U.S. Attorney Mark Hodges prosecuted the case.
Following his sentencing, Lalley-Mestas was taken into custody by the U.S. Marshals Service.
