A Sisseton man has been sentenced to eight years in federal prison for sexually abusing several minor girls. The sentencing of Daniel Oscar Seaboy, 23, was announced by United States Attorney Alison J. Ramsdell and took place on November 5, 2024, in Aberdeen, South Dakota. U.S. District Judge Charles B. Kornmann presided over the case.
Seaboy's sentence includes five years of supervised release following his prison term. He is also required to pay a $200 special assessment to the Federal Crime Victims Fund.
The charges stem from incidents involving minors that occurred in March and October of 2023. In March, two young females aged 13 and 14 visited Seaboy's house where he provided them with alcohol and marijuana before engaging in sexual intercourse with both without their consent. The older girl contracted a sexually transmitted disease from Seaboy.
In a separate incident in October, Seaboy lured another 14-year-old female from her home, gave her alcohol and a vape pen, and had non-consensual sexual intercourse with her as well. This victim also contracted a sexually transmitted disease.
Seaboy was indicted by a federal grand jury in April 2024 and pleaded guilty on August 19, 2024.
This case is part of Project Safe Childhood, an initiative launched by the Department of Justice in May 2006 to combat child sexual exploitation and abuse nationwide. The project aims to locate, apprehend, and prosecute offenders while identifying and rescuing victims through coordinated efforts between federal, state, and local resources.
The investigation was conducted by the FBI along with the Sisseton Wahpeton Tribal Law Enforcement. Assistant U.S. Attorney Elizabeth Ebert-Webb handled the prosecution.
Seaboy has been remanded into custody under the U.S. Marshals Service to continue serving his sentence.
