U.S. Representatives Dusty Johnson, Adrian Smith, and Angie Craig have spearheaded a bipartisan effort to address the new Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator, Lee Zeldin. Nearly 30 members of Congress have joined them in sending a letter that underscores the significance of the American biofuels industry. The letter calls for timely and science-based guidance from the EPA to support the Renewable Fuels Standard (RFS).

The members highlighted how increased U.S. biofuel production contributes to energy abundance and affordability. "Steady growth in U.S. biofuel production means more American fuel in the marketplace and lower prices at the pump for hardworking families who have spent years suffering under high inflation," they stated.

They further urged the EPA to remove outdated regulatory barriers that hinder growth, allowing retailers across all states to offer E15 fuel year-round if desired. "E15 lowers gas prices for consumers, creates new markets for our farmers and helps reduce our energy dependence from foreign countries," they added.

The letter has been signed by various representatives including Adrian Smith, Angie Craig, Mark Alford, Don Bacon, James Baird, Mike Bost, Nikki Budzinski, Sharice Davids, Ron Estes, Randy Feenstra, Brad Finstad, Michelle Fischbach, Mike Flood, Sam Graves, Ashley Hinson, Marcy Kaptur, Robin Kelly, Darin LaHood, Kristen McDonald Rivet, Mark Messmer, Max Miller Mariannette Miller-Meeks Zachary Nunn Mark Pocan Derek Schmidt Eric Sorensen Derrick Van Orden.

Support for this initiative comes from several stakeholder organizations such as Growth Energy and the Renewable Fuels Association among others.
